FAQs

From time to time we receive important questions from our listeners and we want to do our best to answer them.  As we continue to build this station, we want our listeners to enjoy the station.   As more questions are presented we will update this page.  So stay tuned to 91.7 the Gospel, and this website.

Q.  When will 91.7, the Gospel complete the power increase?

A.  At this point we are in the investigation stage, as well as needing to raise the money for the equipment.  We have received our construction permit to elevate our antenna and increase our effective radiated power to 50,000 watts.  We want it as quickly as possible too!  We need all of the funds to be given and the best agreement possible with one of the tower companies.  Pray for this matter daily.   Also, please pray that people will give to this project.  A graph of the progress is on the front page of our site.  In addition to this cost, we will have a very expensive monthly tower rent.  We cannot do this without additional help from our listeners.  We are moving forward.

Q.  What do I do if I want to support 91.7, the Gospel?

A. We certainly need your support.  For us to pay our bills and have a full staff, we need to raise $47,000 per month.  You can help us by telling everyone you know about the station.  Financially, you can send your gift to the station at the address provided on this site.
You may support us monthly, or with a one time gift.  If you desire, you can adopt a portion of a day for $300.00.  We allow two of those per day.  With this you can honor or remember a special person in your life, or even your church.
You may also call and put a gift on your credit card, if that is more convenient.  Please understand that the credit card option is only provided for convenience and we do not want anyone to go into debt on our behalf.  Soon we will have a way for you to donate online, so stay tuned.  All gifts to WJBC-FM are tax deductible.

Q.  What if a business wants to support the station?

A.  This is another area that we are currently developing.  Businesses can help underwrite the station monthly as well.  For an appropriate gift, acknowledgments can be made on the station.  These acknowledgments are an act of gratitude by the station, and will include no call to action, in accordance with FCC rules.  Supporting businesses will also be listed on our website, with a link to the business if applicable.   This is also done as an act of gratitude and does not constitute a service to the businesses.  Just as with individuals, all gifts to 91.7, the Gospel are tax deductible.

FOR ALL THAT SUPPORT THE STATION, WE SINCERELY SAY “THANK YOU!”

Q.  Why does 91.7, the Gospel not support local artists?

A.  We do!  When a local church is having one of the local groups, it is announced on Local Church Updates.  We certainly appreciate our local artists, some of whom volunteer and help us.   As our site develops, we also plan on having a section where local church singings are listed, helping our listeners know where they can go for gospel singings.

Q.  Why does the station require Local Church Update announcements to come directly from a church?

A.  That is a great question, and I am sure you will understand the answer.  Local Church Updates is provided free to local churches to announce special services.  We will not accept announcements for this service if there is a charge for the event or a set donation at the door.  We also reserve the right to revise or refuse any announcement.

Q.  What is a charting station?

A.  91.7, the Gospel is one of the charting stations for the Singing News.  We play songs from the top 80 that fit our format.  We also chart our top 20 songs each month and that list goes into the mix that forms the top 80 national songs.  The songs we play are current releases from national compilations.  This is the same format used by the other top gospel stations all around the country.  We are striving to be the best we can be.  As we are sure you understand, there is no way we can play all that is sent to us.  In the midst of our charting songs, we also play some of the best classic Southern Gospel music, as well as some songs from the last few years that are on their way to being future classics.

Q.    What can I do if 91.7, the Gospel plays a song that I really don't like?

A.    We do play to a large audience and we will, of course, never agree on all the same groups or song styles.  We do strive to be a conservative, Southern Gospel station. However, if it's a more serious issue that needs to be brought to our attention, please do so.  We reserve the right to play, or not play, any group or soloists.  There are songs sent to us that we decide to omit.  It may be by a group that sings Southern Gospel, but the song is not of that genre.  With so many listeners, there may be a song occasionally that is not your favorite, but it may be someone’s.
